KABALE: Kigezi Homeboyz Football Club from Kabale District on Sunday evening endured their first home defeat falling 2-0 to Lugazi Football Club in the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Big League this season.
The clash unfolded at the Kabale Municipal Stadium, where Kigezi Homeboyz FC found themselves grappling for possession in the initial half, while Lugazi FC dictated the tempo of the game. Despite their best efforts to contain the opposition, Kigezi Homeboyz FC found themselves trailing after conceding a goal in the 30th minute, courtesy of Ssemugugu. The pressure persisted, and moments before halftime, Ssempala extended Lugazi FC’s lead with a goal in the 44th minute.

However, the second half witnessed a resurgence from Kigezi Homeboyz FC, as they managed to seize control and launch numerous attacking maneuvers in a bid to overturn the deficit. Despite their spirited display, they fell short of finding the net, ultimately unable to mount a comeback.

Joseph Seremba, the assistant captain of Kigezi Homeboyz FC, voiced his disappointment to our reporter, attributing the defeat to what he perceived as biased officiating favoring the opponents.
Assistant Head Coach of Kigezi Homeboyz FC, Brian Muhwezi, echoed Seremba’s sentiments, attributing the loss to poor officiating by the assistant referee, whom he felt did not meet the required standards. Muhwezi called for intervention from FUFA to address the issue.
