Muko Health Center IV Set to Double Deliveries After Upgrade to Hospital Status

The number of deliveries at Muko Health Center IV in Muko Sub County, Rubanda West County is expected to double once the facility is fully elevated to hospital status, according to Rubanda District Health Officer, Dr. Abdon Birungi.

Dr. Birungi noted that Muko Health Center IV is one of the most vital health facilities in Rubanda District, currently recording over 120 deliveries each month, with around 40 of those being caesarean sections. He expressed optimism that these numbers will significantly increase following the hospital’s anticipated completion in July this year.

The ongoing upgrade, a Shs 18.5 billion project being implemented by the UPDF Engineering Brigade, promises to transform healthcare delivery in the district. The facility will feature state-of-the-art medical equipment, modern infrastructure, and a team of highly trained healthcare professionals.

During an inspection tour by district leaders on Thursday, Dr. Birungi revealed that the new hospital will include two fully equipped surgical theaters, four patient wards, six-story staff accommodation blocks, and a mortuary to support the management of deceased patients.

Ruhiija Sub County NRM Chairperson, Marius Ariganyira, praised the hospital’s design, particularly the inclusion of a mortuary, theaters, and additional medical personnel, noting their importance in enhancing service delivery.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of Habuhutu Town Council, Ayebare Fabias Nkwasiibwe, and Muko Sub County LC5 Councilor, Vincent Kibuye, credited the successful acquisition of funds to strategic lobbying by State Minister of Finance, Henry Musasizi.

District Chairman, Steven Kasyaba, explained that the inspection tour was intended to keep lower local government leaders informed about ongoing efforts to improve healthcare and other public services within the district.
