Police in the Greater Bushenyi region are investigating the cause of a fire that gutted casual labourers’ dormitories and other yet-to-be-established property at Guohao Wood Industry in Koga Trading Centre, Sheema District.
The fire broke out on the evening of December 25, 2025, at around 8:45 pm. According to police, the Regional Fire Prevention and Rescue Department responded promptly and successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures and averting further damage.
Police secured and managed the scene in line with standard safety and investigation procedures. No lives were lost, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
The Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Tayebwa Apollo confirmed the development and pledged to keep the public informed as investigations continue.
Tayebwa revealed that investigations have been launched to establish the exact cause of the fire and are calling on members of the public who may have information related to the incident to share it with police confidentially.
He urged the public, especially business operators and residents, to strictly observe fire prevention and safety measures to reduce the risk of similar incidents.
