Former Rwenzururu Kingdom Prime Minister Gadi Mbayahi has passed away following injuries sustained in a motor accident.
According to local sources, Mbayahi breathed his last at Kampala International University (KIU) Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment after the crash.
Mbayahi, a revered elder in the Rwenzururu sub-region, was also the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for the LC5 chairperson seat in Kasese District in the 2026–2031 election cycle.
Members of the Rwenzururu community and NUP officials have mourned his death, describing him as a humble and dedicated leader who served with distinction in both cultural and political spheres.
“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our elder and former Rwenzururu Kingdom Prime Minister, Gadi Mbayahi,” NUP said in a statement.
Burial arrangements are underway, with details to be communicated by his family and the Rwenzururu Kingdom leadership.
