The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, on Monday officially launched the party’s manifesto, highlighting the “First Eleven” key priorities for 2026 and beyond.
The manifesto, themed “A New Uganda Now,” outlines a roadmap for national transformation.
Kyagulanyi emphasized that the manifesto is not merely a critique of current government failures, but a comprehensive plan to reclaim Uganda’s future.
He pledged that NUP leadership is committed to delivering a country that works for all citizens, not just a privileged few.
NUP’s “First Eleven” Policy Priorities:
- Restore freedom, constitutionalism, and human rights, including gender equity.
- End corruption and wasteful government expenditure.
- Consolidate national unity, rebuild war-torn communities, and eliminate sectarianism.
- Guarantee equal access to quality public services, including clean water, healthcare, education, energy, and infrastructure.
- Create 10 million new jobs by 2032 through lower business costs and leveraging tourism, manufacturing, sports, and the creative economy.
- Establish a public-school feeding program to improve education, promote health, transform agriculture, and ensure food security.
- Stop land grabbing and guarantee secure land rights for all Ugandans.
- Empower regional and local governance through genuine devolution.
- Position the diaspora as a strategic asset and strengthen foreign policy for Uganda’s development and global competitiveness.
- Ensure sustainable management of natural resources and climate resilience, including detection, adaptation, and mitigation of climate change.
- Transform Uganda into a tech-driven economy by leveraging technology, innovation, and digital resources.
Kyagulanyi concluded that these priorities form the foundation for a Uganda that is fairer, prosperous, and inclusive for all citizens.
