Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) stalwart and Kwania District Chairperson, Alex Ogwal, has declared his support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking during Museveni’s campaign rally in Kwania on Friday, Ogwal welcomed the President and his entourage, commending the central government team led by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and District Police Commander (DPC) for their service in the district.

“Kwania is calm, Your Excellency. I thank you for all the service that you have given us as the people of Kwania, and because of the good service that you have done for the country and for the people of Kwania specifically, I offer my support for you this time,” Ogwal said.

He pledged to mobilize support for Museveni and the ruling NRM party in Kwania and across the Lango sub-region, saying elders had a duty to guide and organize society before retiring honorably.

“Elders are not only thrown away. Elders are supposed to organize the house, assemble the boys, then retire honorably, not thrown away,” he emphasized.

The UPC chairperson also appealed to the President to prioritize key infrastructure projects in the district, especially road works around the swamps bordering Lake Kwania.

“We are facing a huge challenge of road. Some of the swamps we cannot manage as a district. Kindly help us in that,” he said.

Ogwal further requested President Museveni to officially commission the administration block whose foundation stone was laid in the President’s name.

“Now that I’ve offered myself to support you fully, kindly help me in your next term… At any of your free time, you go and officially lay the foundation stone, although retrospectively,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming his “full support” for President Museveni in the ongoing campaigns.
