The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has launched his second campaign rally in the Lango Sub-region with major pledges targeting infrastructure, health, education and wealth creation.
Speaking at Amolatar Senior Secondary School in Amolatar District on Wednesday, Museveni vowed to establish an independent intelligence network to track and arrest individuals stealing government drugs from health facilities.
“We have made great strides in disease prevention through immunisation, but curative services are being sabotaged by drug theft. In my next term, I will deploy an independent spy system to eliminate this problem,” Museveni said.
Roads, Schools and Health Services Top Agenda
Museveni pledged to tarmac key road networks linking Amolatar to Dokolo, Namasale, Ocero and other parts of the Lango sub-region. He also promised to construct a government primary school in every remaining parish and a secondary school in each sub-county.
The NRM candidate further announced plans to recruit over 50,000 teachers nationwide to address staffing gaps, saying this would curb extortion in public schools and strengthen the government’s day-schooling policy.
Wealth Creation and Social Support
Museveni revealed plans to expand livelihood support funds to fishermen, Boda Boda riders and other informal sector workers, supplementing existing programs such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga.
He also committed to enforcing a new fishing and wetland management strategy, citing the revival of the Limoto fishing scheme in Pallisa as a model.
The President commended Amolatar residents for embracing his cattle restocking program, which provides five cows per household as part of post-conflict recovery in Northern Uganda.
NRM Leaders Rally Support
NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) Anita Among urged voters to reward the party for its “transformative leadership” by re-electing Museveni and all NRM flag bearers.
Northern Uganda NRM Vice Chairperson Dennis Hamson Obua said peace and development delivered under Museveni were sufficient grounds for another term in office.
Amolatar District NRM Chairperson Kamilo Olwit expressed confidence in an NRM victory, citing improved water transport on Lake Kyoga, ambulances, universal education and community development programs.
Museveni is seeking the 9th term in the 2026 general elections, with the Lango sub-region emerging as a key battleground for the ruling party.
