Police have confirmed the transfer to Kampala of two suspects accused of killing Anthony Mutinisa, the proprietor of Mutinisa Motors Uganda.
The suspects, identified as Hillary Byaruhanga and Akampa Mark, allegedly shot Mutinisa dead on Sunday at his office on Martyrs Way, Ntinda, before fleeing.
Byaruhanga, a guard with Don World Security Limited, was arrested on Monday evening in Kihihi, Kanungu District, as he attempted to cross into the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was captured alongside Akampa, who worked as a driver for Mutinisa Motors.
Police say Byaruhanga fled with an undisclosed sum of money and Mutinisa’s Toyota Land Cruiser V8, after allegedly tampering with CCTV cameras to conceal evidence. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned in Kambuga, Kanungu District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the suspects’ transfer to Kampala on Wednesday.
“Two suspects; Byaruhanga Hillary and Akampa Mark, who were arrested from Kanungu for killing Mutinisa, are being brought back to Kampala to face charges,” Onyango said.
