The NRM National Vice Chairman for Western Uganda, Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, has called on party leaders in Rubanda District to embrace teamwork and unity as the country heads toward the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking during the NRM Delegates Conference held on Thursday at Volcano Hotel in Rubanda Town Council, Eng. Asiimwe reminded leaders that internal disagreements from previous elections should not stand in the way of collective progress.

“I know some of you disagreed in the recent elections, but we must accept that there is always one winner. I urge you to move as a unit as we campaign for our Presidential flag bearer, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” he said.

Asiimwe emphasized that unity is essential for securing a resounding victory for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in Rubanda and across the country.

During the same meeting, State Minister for Finance (General Duties) Hon. Henry Musasizi highlighted the key achievements that have strengthened President Museveni’s support in Rubanda District. He noted that Rubanda was the second-best performer in Kigezi Region and ranked 16th nationally in the 2021 presidential vote.

Musasizi attributed this strong support to major government projects delivered in the district, including the tarmacking of the Kabale–Kisoro Road, expansion of electricity, the ongoing construction of Rubanda General Hospital, and the establishment of three seed secondary schools within six years—an achievement he said is unmatched elsewhere.

He also pointed out that since the 2022/2023 financial year, Rubanda District has received up to Shs 21 billion to support wealth creation initiatives, especially the Parish Development Model (PDM).

Minister Musasizi who also doubles as the Rubanda East Constituency Member of Parliament added that the district’s gratitude further grew after President Museveni appointed him to the Ministry of Finance, a remark that was met with loud applause from the delegates.

The Rubanda West MP and NRM flag bearer Hon. Bruce Balaba Kabaasa appealed to Eng. Asiimwe to advocate for increased funding for district NRM secretariats. He noted that local NRM leaders often carry the burden of financing party activities.

“Whenever we gather like this, the NRM chairperson is always facilitating these meetings. I commend Hon. Musasizi for ensuring these conferences take place, but we need more support from the party to strengthen our grassroots work,” Kabaasa said.

Meanwhile, Eng. Asiimwe, on Friday called on party leaders in Rukungiri District to intensify mobilisation efforts by clearly highlighting the National Resistance Movement’s track record of service and development.

Addressing the devoted NRM leaders and members of the wider community in Rukungiri during mobilisation campaigns ahead of the visit of the Party Presidential Flag Bearer, H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Eng. Asiimwe urged them to move beyond slogans and focus on explaining the “undeniable development gains” the Movement has delivered over the years.

He cited improved infrastructure, strengthened security, expanded access to education and community livelihood initiatives as key achievements that have uplifted communities and transformed lives across the country. He stressed that these gains must be safeguarded for the future of the nation.

Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the NRM mission, strengthening community engagement and protecting the progress achieved under the Movement’s leadership.

He encouraged the people of Rukungiri and Ugandans at large to remain steadfast in their support for the NRM at all levels, saying the country needs stability, continuity and leadership that has consistently delivered tangible results.

“With your support, we shall continue building a stronger and more prosperous Uganda for all,” he said.
