Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Anitah Annet Among, has ordered an investigation into the Buyende District leadership over the alleged mismanagement of road maintenance funds.
This directive was issued during her ongoing community empowerment tour in the district, where she officially flagged off the grading of all impassable feeder roads.
Speaker Among expressed concern over the poor state of several community access roads, despite the government allocating Shs1 billion annually to each district for road maintenance.
On Saturday, she summoned the district engineer to immediately mobilize road equipment and begin rehabilitation works.
   She emphasized that action must be taken to ensure accountability and restore road accessibility.
Among the roads slated for immediate repair is the 3km Bugaya–Gwase road in Budiope East County, which has long been impassable and a major concern for local residents.
