KAMPALA: The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Air Force (UPDF-AF) decorated 71 senior and junior officers in a ceremony at its Entebbe headquarters following their promotion by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, the Air Force Commander, presided over the event, where the highest-ranking officer was promoted to Brigadier General, while junior officers advanced to the rank of Lieutenant.
In his address, Lt Gen Okidi congratulated the officers and emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and continuous professional development.
He encouraged them to seize training opportunities, a key factor in career progression.
“For those whose names have not yet appeared, remember that in the UPDF, promotions come in due time. Do not lose hope—excel in your assignments. The Air Force leadership values every officer’s contribution and ensures recognition when it is due,” he reassured.
Highlighting the importance of teamwork, he added, “If you want to go far, move with others.”
