UPDF Forces Apprehend Two Congolese Mai Mai Rebels with AK-47 and Ammunition in Kanungu

KANUNGU – The Uganda People’s Defense Force in Southwestern Uganda’s Kanungu District on Wednesday apprehended two individuals affiliated with the Mai Mai rebel group in Nyamilima detach.

Lt Col Robert Nahamya, Commander of the 307 Brigade, disclosed that Vitwale Innocent (20) and Niyo Kibuga (21) were captured at 07:40 AM on Wednesday in Kyeshero cell central, Kyeshero Subcounty.

According to him, the suspects, found with an AK-47 Rifle (CDFA 31004960) and 28 ammunitions, had crossed the Kashenyi porous border on Tuesday midnight.

Nahamya says that their presence was noted by Richard Nuwagaba, a local resident, who promptly alerted UPDF forces leading to their apprehension.
