KANUNGU: Authorities at Kihihi Health Center IV in Kihihi town council, Kanungu District are stuck with the predicament of an unidentified female adult, estimated to be between 22 and 25 years old, whose body was discovered yesterday floating in the waters of river Ntungwa in Rwemishunga cell, River Ntungwa Mashaku Parish in Nyamirama sub-county.
The lifeless form was stumbled upon around 4:00 PM by passersby along the banks of river Ntungwa. Upon the grim discovery, they promptly alerted Mugabe Robert, the local area chairperson of Rwemishunga cell in Mashaku parish, Nyamirama Sub County, who then reported the incident to Nyamirama police station.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region police, disclosed that upon reaching the scene, thorough examination and documentation ensued. The body was subsequently retrieved from the river and transported to Kihihi Health Center 4 for a postmortem examination.
Maate further elaborated that the deceased was clad in a white blouse, black half petticoat, and a white knicker, with her hair neatly plaited. Visible bruises were evident on her arms and head, suggesting possible trauma from being dragged along a rough surface.
Maate urged those who may be missing a loved one fitting the description to come forward and identify the body at the health center’s mortuary for proper arrangements to be made for burial. He appealed to anyone possessing information that could aid the investigation into her untimely demise to come forward and assist the authorities in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
