RWAMPARA: Police in Rwampara District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the suicide of a 38-year-old man.
The deceased, identified as Peter Muhinda, a resident of Nyamatete cell in Kinoni town council, left home yesterday at 9:00 AM with a panga and a shopping basket containing a radio, intending to work in his grandfather’s banana plantation.
Yesterday, around 12:00 PM, his body was discovered hanging from a tree branch with a rope by Monica Kabandize, who had gone to the family farm to tie her goats for grazing. She promptly alerted the chairman of LC1, who reported the matter to Kinoni Police Station.
SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson, stated that Police responded to the scene, and the body was examined before being handed over to the family for burial.
Kasasira mentioned that inquiries into the matter are still ongoing to establish the cause of the act.
