Rubanda District Launches Construction of Girls’ Dormitory at Bubare Secondary School to Address Accommodation Challenge

RUBANDA: Authorities in Rubanda District, led by LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba yesterday inaugurated the construction of a Girls’ Dormitory valued at Shs. 150 Million at Bubare Secondary School in Bubare Town Council.

The Acting Rubanda District Engineer, Bob Bwebare, disclosed that the construction contract was awarded to Epic Fine Services and Contractors Ltd. The dormitory will feature three quarters and is anticipated to be completed in four months, following which it will be ready for use.

Chairman Kasyaba highlighted that this project is part of a larger initiative aimed at addressing accommodation challenges in Government-aided schools in Rubanda District by constructing dormitories and classroom blocks.

He further mentioned that the Shs. 150 million allocated for this dormitory was secured through additional funding from the central government, with assistance from the State Minister of Finance, General Duties, Henry Musasizi, who also serves as the Rubanda East MP and NRM Chairperson for Rubanda District.

Kasyaba also revealed plans for allocating an additional Shs. 150 million in the next fiscal year to construct another girls’ dormitory at Bubare S.S., aiming to alleviate congestion at one of the district’s most populous schools.

He urged the contractor to deliver quality work to secure future projects with the district and called upon the District Technical team and School Management to ensure proper supervision and monitoring of the construction for satisfactory outcomes.

In his remarks, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors at Bubare Secondary School, Aggrey Yesigomwe, expressed gratitude for the timely construction of the girls’ dormitory, acknowledging the support provided by the District Authorities and Minister Musasizi.

The Headteacher of Bubare Secondary School, Amos Ahimbisibwe, emphasized the historical significance of Rubanda District Local Government’s involvement in constructing a dormitory at the school. He pledged to oversee the construction process to ensure high-quality results.

Bubare Secondary School, established by the Anglican Church under the Diocese of Kigezi, stands as one of the oldest secondary schools in Rubanda District and is among the ten Government-aided schools in the area.

In the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results, Bubare S.S. emerged as the top-performing school in Rubanda District, with one of its students achieving an aggregate of 20. This performance elevated the school’s national ranking from 1000 in 2022 to 158th in the country.
