KISORO: A 30-year-old man has been electrocuted in Kisoro Municipality.
The deceased identified as Henry Niyigaba, a resident of Nyamirima village, Nyamagana Ward, central division in Kisoro municipality got electrocuted yesterday afternoon at former Miami hotel building in Kisoro hill central division of Kisoro Municipality.
Niyigaba, upon being electrocuted, lost consciousness immediately. He was swiftly transported to the Touch to Heart Medical Centre, situated opposite the former Miami hotel building. Regrettably, Niyigaba passed away before any medical intervention could be administered.
Geoffrey Muhinda, the Manager of UMEME Kisoro branch, confirmed the incident. He attributed the tragic event to the negligence of the building owners, who failed to disconnect the building’s electricity supply during construction. Muhinda emphasized the importance of caution when dealing with electricity and urged residents in the area to exercise vigilance.
