KISORO: The Northern Division LC3 Chairperson in Kisoro Municipality, Michael Bazamanza has said that the long-awaited staff quarters at Zindiro Health Centre Three are finally set to be constructed this July.
Ever since its elevation to a health center three status Zindiro Health Centre has been grappling with limited space for its workforce. In 2021, the government pledged 150 million shillings to aid in the construction of staff quarters, but the lack of adequate land posed a significant obstacle.
In response, a local fundraising drive was organized in 2022, raising over 43 million shillings to purchase land for the project. Despite Kisoro Municipality procuring the land and obtaining its title, the government’s pledged aid remained delayed.
However, Bazamanza revealed in a conversation with our reporter yesterday that the Ministry of Finance has officially confirmed the availability of funds. The promised 150 million shillings will be released early in July to kickstart the construction process.

Bazamanza emphasized the urgent need for staff quarters, highlighting the current situation where staff members still share beds with patients, a practice he deemed unethical. Nevertheless, he commended the dedication of the staff for persisting under such challenging conditions and serving the community diligently.
Bazamanza urged the government, particularly the Ministry of Health, to consider providing the facility’s Health In-Charge with a motorcycle to facilitate easier movement in fulfilling his duties.
