RUKIGA: Police in Rukiga District are searching for an unknown motor vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident that killed a 67-year-old pedestrian along the Kabale–Ntungamo road.
The deceased has been identified as Christopher Mbetabaitu, a resident of Kitaburaza Cell, Nyakabengo Parish in Bukinda Sub County, Rukiga District. The accident occurred yesterday around 7:30 PM at Kitaburaza Cell on the Kabale–Ntungamo highway. Mbetabaitu was crossing the road from a nearby junction to his home when he was struck by a speeding car. He died instantly at the scene.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, reported that the police were notified, visited, and documented the scene. Mbetabaitu’s body was taken to his home for burial. Maate attributed the accident to pedestrian’s carelessness.
