KABALE: A 41-year-old mechanic has been knocked dead along Kabale-Bunyonyi road in Kabale District.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Byampala, was a resident of Rwabarera village in Bubare Sub County, Rubanda District. The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 7:45 AM in Ihumbi village, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality.
Byampala was walking from Rwabarera village to his workplace when he was hit by a speeding, unidentified vehicle. The vehicle did not stop after the collision and fled the scene.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, stated that the scene was examined, and Byampala’s body was taken to Kabale Hospital mortuary.
Maate says that the search for the vehicle is ongoing.
