KASESE: The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has disclosed that they fell short of their recruitment target from the Rwenzori Sub-region in the recently concluded exercise.
Earlier this month, the UPDF conducted a recruitment drive in the Rwenzori Sub-region with a target of 567 recruits.
However, Major Bilal Katamba, the UPDF Public Information Officer for the Mountain Division and Operation Shujja, revealed that some districts did not meet their allocated recruitment quotas.
According to Major Katamba, although the region was slated to recruit 567 individuals, only 479 successfully passed the rigorous selection process. Of these recruits, 415 were male while 64 were female.
Bundibugyo District experienced the most significant shortfall, where only 27 out of the 48 allocated slots were filled during the recruitment.
Nevertheless, Major Katamba commended the enthusiastic participation of recruits from Kasese, Bunyangabu, and Kitagwenda districts, noting their dedication during the exercise.
He also expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of local leaders throughout the recruitment process.
