RUKUNGIRI: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has retained Wilberforce Tumuhimbise Ongom as the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) for Rukungiri District.
This reappointment was confirmed in a letter issued by President Museveni on August 21, 2024, and signed by the Secretary, Haji Kakande Yunus.
The letter clarified that Tumuhimbise will continue serving as the DRDC for Rukungiri District following a recent reshuffle of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), and their deputies across the country.

Initially, there was some confusion about Tumuhimbise’s assignment, as it appeared he had been transferred from Rukungiri District to Rukungiri-Kihiihi without a clear indication of where his office would be based, leaving some uncertainty regarding his role in the new assignments.
However, the letter emphasized that President Museveni, exercising his authority under Articles 99 and 203 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (as amended in 1995), has redeployed Ongom to continue serving as the DRDC for Rukungiri District. The redeployment takes immediate effect.
