KASESE: Police in Kasese District have arrested Jimmy Muhindo and are actively searching for five other suspects believed to have vandalized an electric transformer and stolen its parts.
According to SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, Muhindo’s arrest followed intelligence reports received at Kasese Central Police Station. The suspect was apprehended at his home in Katonzi Cell, Nyakabingo Ward, Bulembia Division, Kasese Municipality, where police recovered an electric transformer, wires, and other stolen components.
Tumushime added that the five accomplices remain at large, but efforts are underway to apprehend them.
SP Tumushime also mentioned that a similar case of vandalism was reported two weeks ago in Basecamp Lower Cell, Kasese Municipality, with the suspect in that case still at large.
Police spokesperson urged the public in Kasese District to refrain from engaging in such criminal activities, warning that vandalism is a serious crime that could lead to severe legal consequences if one is caught and prosecuted.
“Investigations into the case are ongoing, with authorities seeking additional leads to identify and bring in those involved for questioning”. Tumushime said.
