RUBANDA: Police in Rubanda District have arrested two women for questioning in connection with the alleged murder of a 50-year-old man in Muko Sub County.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the suspects as 28-year-old Twinamasiko Jackline and 38-year-old Kemigisha Robina, both residents of Rwakamu village, Kaara Parish, Muko Sub County, Rubanda District.
Maate also identified the deceased as Nicholas Tumuheise, also known as Kubirabe, a resident of Kakangaga village in the same parish and sub county.
According to Maate, on Thursday morning, Tumuheise, who lived alone with his son as the closest neighbor, left home to attend a burial but never returned. He was last seen around 8:00 p.m. at Keneema Feredius’s bar, drinking local brew (chief waragi) with his companion, Twinamasiko Jackline, and Kemigisha Robina. At around 9:00 p.m., all three left the bar, following each other outside.
Tragically, on Friday morning at around 7:30 a.m., Tumuheise was found dead along the road to his home, with blood oozing from his ears and mouth.
Maate added that local residents began searching for Jackline, but she was not found at her home. It was later discovered that she had spent the night at Kemigisha Robina’s house for reasons yet to be determined.
He said that police were alerted by Kemerwa Medard, the defense secretary of Katete village. Upon visiting and documenting the scene, officers rescued the two women from an angry mob that intended to harm them. The suspects were taken to Muko Police Station for further investigation.
He also said that a post-mortem was conducted, and the body was handed over to the deceased’s relatives for burial.
