KABALE: Police in Kabale District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult, whose body was discovered in a swamp at Rwakihirwa Cell, Kamuganguzi Sub County.
According to a police statement, the deceased was killed by unknown suspects with malice aforethought on Thursday around 5:45 PM. They subsequently concealed his body in the swamp along Katuna Road.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the development, stating that the body was found by a young boy tending to animals. The boy alerted the area chairperson, Abraham Nuwagaba, who attempted to identify the body but was unsuccessful.
Nuwagaba then contacted the Officer in Charge of the Kamuganguzi Police Station, who notified the OC of the Kabale Police Station and the District CID Officer. A team later visited the scene to document the incident.
Maate reported that the body showed scratches on the face and was retrieved for examination. It has been taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem, and efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing.
Maate urges anyone missing a loved one to visit the hospital mortuary to facilitate identification and arrange for a proper burial.
