RUBANDA: Police in Rubanda District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 43-year-old businessman, whose body was found in his brother’s latrine in Rubanda Town Council.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, identified the deceased as Erias Turyakira, a resident of Kamusegu Cell, Nyarurambi Ward, Rubanda Town Council.
According to Maate, Turyakira, who was a businessman dealing in Irish potatoes in Rubanda District, left home for work on Tuesday morning but did not return.
His body was discovered the following day, Wednesday at 7:15 a.m., by a young man named Gerivazi in Mukatasa Cell, Nyarurambi Ward.
Maate said police were alerted and responded to the scene, but by the time they arrived, it had already been contaminated by onlookers.
However, the scene was documented, statements were taken from witnesses, and the body was taken to Kabale Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police have called on anyone with information regarding the murder to come forward, so those responsible can be brought to justice.
