KAMPALA: The NRM First National Vice Chairman, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, on Thursday launched the digitalisation exercise of the party’s membership register across the country.
The exercise was commissioned during a training session for data centre supervisors held at the Party National Secretariat on Plot 13, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.
In his remarks, Al-Hajji Kigongo urged the trainees to conduct a credible and transparent exercise at all centres. He warned the team against engaging in activities outside their mandate, such as soliciting money from politicians to make irregular entries.
“The party will rely on your work to ensure we establish a clean and credible membership and voters’ register,” Kigongo said.
The Party Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, emphasised the importance of commitment from the dispatched teams, noting that they may need to work long hours to deliver a credible outcome.
According to Todwong, the activity will involve cleaning the register by removing deceased members, those who have relocated, or those who have joined other political parties. It will also include registering new members joining the NRM.
“I implore you to take this exercise seriously. It demands diligence to ensure that all eligible members are included,” Todwong stated.
The Director of Finance and Administration, Hajjat Medina Naham, highlighted the significance of the updated register for ensuring free and fair internal elections ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“An updated register will help us avoid the chaos and disputes among party members during primaries, which have occurred in isolated areas in the past,” Hajjat Medina noted.
The launch was attended by members of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) and senior officials from the NRM Secretariat.
