ARUA: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is in the final stages of compiling a credible voter register ahead of its 2025 internal elections to determine flag bearers, Hajjat Medina Naham, the Director of Finance and Administration at the party secretariat, has said.

Speaking to the media in Arua City on Monday, where she is overseeing operations at two West Nile data centers, Medina assured party members that the digitalization of the NRM membership register is progressing smoothly.

The ongoing 21-day exercise at 20 data centers across the country follows the March 2024 update of the register and the enrollment of new party members.

“This time, we are committed to ensuring an all-inclusive register ahead of the elections. I do not expect us to face the challenges encountered with previous registers,” Medina said.

To achieve this, Medina revealed that the NRM has recruited a team comprising data clerks proficient in local dialects, IT officers, verification officers, and supervisors. Their role is to ensure due diligence before any data is uploaded into the system.

“So far, we have captured data for about 13 million out of the 18 million registered members, and we are optimistic about completing the exercise within or even ahead of schedule,” Medina said, commending the teams involved in the process.

Once finalized, the register will be printed and sent to all villages for members to review and confirm their details.

“Students and those who may have missed the initial registration will also have the opportunity to be added,” Medina added.

Irene Nyafono, a supervisor at the Arua City data center, highlighted the efficiency of the ongoing exercise.
