NEWS: The 4th edition of the Kigezi Teens Magazine, themed “Empowering the Youth and Transforming Lives of the Young Generation,” was officially launched on Saturday, December 21, 2024. The event hosted at White Horse Inn hotel in Kabale Municipality marked a significant milestone in extending youth-focused programs across Western Uganda.
The launch event, held at the White Horse Inn in Kabale, Western Uganda, was presided over by Prof. Charles Kwesiga, Chief Executive Director of the Uganda Industrial Research Institute, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries also graced the occasion.
In his keynote address, Prof. Kwesiga encouraged the youth to adopt a mindset of discipline and hard work as a foundation for a brighter future.

He urged them to focus on learning from the backgrounds of successful people rather than merely admiring their achievements. Prof. Kwesiga commended the magazine’s team for their outstanding work and pledged ongoing support for their initiatives.
He also promised to support all youth-driven activities in the Kigezi region.

Dr. Protazio Begumisa, the NRM flag bearer for Ndorwa East, lauded the magazine team for their dedication and assured his support for future initiatives. He emphasized the importance of hard work and discipline among the youth to achieve their goals.
Hon. Joseph Mutebile, a hopeful MP for Kabale Municipality, encouraged young people to participate in similar programs as a means to combat idleness, which often leads to indiscipline. He also solicited youth support for his parliamentary bid in the 2026 elections.
Counsel Wilbroad Rwamunahe, an aspirant for LC5 Chairman of Kabale District, praised the team’s efforts and pledged support for their activities. He appealed to the youth to back him in his LC5 chairmanship campaign.

Former Kabale District Woman MP aspirant Enid Origumisiriza commended the team and urged teens to embrace spirituality, prayer, and the use of their talents to create positive impacts in their communities.
Trust Kyomugisha, a hopeful Kabale District Woman MP, expressed her appreciation for the magazine’s work and promised her continued support.
Similarly, Kabale Municipality Central Division LC3 Chairman, Sam Arimaitwe, congratulated all award winners and assured his support for such youth initiatives.

Eddy Nahwera, the Founder of Kigezi Teens Magazine, extended gratitude to the sponsors and stakeholders who contributed to the completion of the magazine’s fourth edition. He particularly acknowledged Prof. Kwesiga for his unwavering support for youth projects in the region and nationwide.
Nahwera highlighted the educational opportunities facilitated by Prof. Kwesiga, including a trip to the Uganda Industrial Research Institute, where teens gained exposure to new skills.

Nahwera called on the government to fully support youth initiatives to empower young people in Kigezi and across Uganda.
“We request the government to include influential youth at every stage of its programs so that our grievances are well represented,” he said. He also appealed for more sponsors, donors, and funds to sustain their annual editions and youth events. “Meaningfully engaging young people is the first step toward realizing our rights and transforming society,” Nahwera concluded.
