RUBANDA: The State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has announced that the government will cover bank charges for Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries.
This decision follows President Yoweri Museveni’s directive that beneficiaries should receive the full amount of the Shs. 1 million initially allocated as the minimum PDM loan for each individual.
Speaking at a Parish Development Model sensitization event at Hamuhambo Town Council in Rubanda District on Friday morning, Minister Musasizi addressed concerns raised by some PDM beneficiaries. They reported that banks were deducting up to Shs. 30,000 from their loan amounts.
In response, Minister Musasizi noted that similar concerns had been raised at recent gatherings during President Museveni’s countrywide tours to assess the impact of the PDM initiative.
The PDM is a government strategy aimed at eradicating poverty and promoting socio-economic transformation in Uganda.
It focuses on the parish as the lowest administrative and operational hub for planning and development.
The initiative seeks to deliver inclusive and sustainable development by addressing issues of production, financial inclusion, and service delivery at the grassroots level.
