KABALE: The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira on Sunday opened the Holy Door at Our Lady of Good Shepherd, Rushoroza Cathedral, and officially launched the Jubilee Year 2025 in the diocese.
Bishop Rubaramira began the ceremony by distributing the Jubilee Prayer to Christians at St. Maria Theresa Primary School-Rushoroza. He then proceeded to open the Holy Door at Our Lady of Good Shepherd, Rushoroza Cathedral, before presiding over Mass on the cathedral grounds in Kabale Municipality.
During the event, Bishop Rubaramira announced that the diocese has entered a Jubilee Year under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” The 2025 Jubilee Year, a Catholic Church event aimed at restoring hope to a world grappling with war, climate change, and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, was formally launched by Pope Francis on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024, as he opened the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.
The Catholic Holy Year traditionally occurs every 25 years, providing the faithful an opportunity to visit holy sites, perform acts of piety, and seek the remission of sins.
In his homily, Bishop Rubaramira emphasized that the Jubilee Year is a time for Christians to renew their relationship with God, one another, and Creation. He highlighted the importance of sharing the hope of the Christian faith with the world and urged Christians across the diocese to prioritize Jesus Christ in their lives during the Jubilee Year.
