“The main route for the summit will be the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway to Speke Resort Munyonyo. This will be the designated summit route. Additionally, the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway, Northern Bypass, Binaisa Road, Mulago Traffic Lights, and Old Kiira Road will serve as alternative routes for delegates heading to nearby hotels,” Kananura explained on Monday.

He further clarified that the summit route covers a stretch from Entebbe International Airport via Kajjansi Interchange. This corridor will be tightly regulated, with traffic diversions and hold-ups to accommodate official convoys and ensure the safety of road users.

At Mpala, traffic will be redirected to the Entebbe Highway, keeping the Expressway clear for convoy use. At Kisubi, vehicles will be diverted to Nakawuka Road to reduce congestion on the Entebbe Highway.

Kananura also mentioned that at the Kajjansi Flyover, motorists will be diverted away from the Munyonyo Spur and Expressway, and directed towards the Lubowa-Zana route. Additional diversions will occur at key junctions such as Serena-Kigo Traffic Lights, Mutungo-Kitiko Traffic Lights, and the Busabala Junction.

“There will be a security checkpoint to screen all vehicles, with diversions at the Munyonyo Roundabout, redirecting motorists to Salaama Road and Buziga. Drivers approaching Munyonyo will also be redirected via UCB Road to access the Buziga and Lukuli areas,” he added.

At the Northern Bypass, a diversion will be implemented at the Busega Flyover, and vehicles will be restricted from accessing the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway through a slip road. Diversions will also be in effect along the bypass, including at Sentema, Nansana, Bwaise Interchange, and various flyovers.

Traffic police will maintain control over road junctions, restricting access and regulating traffic flow based on the movement of delegates. Vehicles will be held at least 50 meters from these junctions.

“All access routes to the summit venue and hotels where delegates will be staying will be sealed off by security and traffic personnel. No motorcycles will be allowed on the Kajjansi-Munyonyo Spur,” Kananura stated.

He urged all travelers with flights at Entebbe International Airport to plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays. He also appealed to the public to exercise patience and courtesy towards summit delegates during the event.
