KABALE: The Kabale Municipality Town Clerk, Jamilu Kasajja Kairu, has advised the organizers of the Kabale District NRM Youth League, scheduled for January 26, 2025, to find an alternative venue for their event, as Kabale Main Stadium is already booked for another sports activity.

This clarification follows a collision between the organizers of the Kabale District NRM Youth League and those of the Aja Cup, one of Kabale Municipality’s oldest football tournaments, over who will use the stadium on that day.

The Aja Cup, sponsored by former Kabale Municipality MP Andrew Aja Baryayanga, collides with the NRM Liberation Cup, organized by Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, the Kabale Municipality NRM parliamentary flag bearer and Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Wakiso.

Both events had scheduled their finals for January 26, 2025, coinciding with the national Liberation Day celebrations.

The collision has sparked heated debates across various WhatsApp platforms, with supporters of both sides arguing over the rightful use of the stadium.

However, in a letter issued on Wednesday, Town Clerk Kasajja clarified that while the NRM Youth League organizers had approached his office seeking permission to use the stadium, they were not granted clearance.

He explained that the stadium had already been booked by the Kabale Football Association on December 16, 2024, for their event on Liberation Day, after confirming there were no other prior bookings for the date.

Kasajja advised the NRM Youth League organizers to secure an alternative venue for their event.
