MITOOMA: The National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has condemned the brutal murder of a 28-year-old party activist in Mitooma District.
According to Bobi Wine, the deceased, Anselm Nimusiima, was a boda boda rider based in Ishaka Municipality, Bushenyi District. He was allegedly killed on Friday night in Katenga, Mitooma District.
Bobi Wine claims that Nimusiima was lured into a trap by someone pretending to be a passenger. Upon reaching a secluded area, he was ambushed by others who strangled him and attacked him with sharp objects, leaving him dead.
“We have been informed that Nimusiima had been receiving threats for boldly identifying with us through his dress code and activities,” Bobi Wine stated.
He added, “At only 28 years of age, he now joins the long list of comrades violently murdered for committing to the struggle for a better country.”
Bobi Wine expressed frustration with the authorities, stating that he would have called on the police to investigate if they had shown any interest in addressing previous murders of NUP members, such as Lochoto Ambrose Machete, Ritah Nabukenya, and Dan Kyeyune, among others.
Despite the tragedy, Bobi Wine remains hopeful, saying, “One day, justice will prevail for all these crimes.”
