AMURIA: In an effort to combat idleness among Teso youth, the Iteso Paramount Chief, Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, has declared a total war against school dropouts in the region.
Emorimor made this declaration on Wednesday while addressing clan leaders during his tour of Amuria District. The event, held at Orungo Town Council headquarters, drew thousands of attendees.
According to Emorimor, he is committed to strengthening the education sector in Teso by working with vetted clan leaders to monitor school enrollment, particularly in the first and second terms.
He also issued a stern warning to parents who keep their children at home, emphasizing that they will face consequences.
Now in his third year of service since his coronation, Emorimor expressed deep concern over the alarming rate at which the younger generation is straying from education.
To address this, his administration has designed a ten-year strategic plan focused on improving academic engagement.
Beyond education, the Emorimor clan tour is also aimed at educating clan leaders on the new constitution of the chiefdom, equipping them with skills to resolve land-related conflicts in their communities, and discussing the upcoming Iteso Clan Census led by the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU).
The tour began in Katakwi District and continued in Amuria Town Council. It is set to conclude tomorrow with meetings in Amolo, Wera, and other sub-counties.
Next week, the initiative will move to Kapelebyong District as part of a broader regional effort.
