KITGUM: Police in Kitgum District are investigating the sudden death of an intern doctor at St. Joseph’s Hospital – Kitgum.
Dr. Abaho Rodgers, 38, reportedly passed away on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025, at approximately 4:23 a.m. after reporting to the outpatient department with rashes on his body and difficulty breathing.
According to Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Joe Oloya, Dr. Abaho had reported for duty on Monday morning and signed out at 6:00 p.m. to return home.
However, he was called back to the maternity ward at around 10:45 p.m. to attend to a mother who had delivered but was experiencing complications. He worked alongside a colleague identified only as Dr. Komakech.
Oloya stated that at midnight, Dr. Abaho left for his residence in the nurses’ quarter but returned to the OPD around 2:53 a.m. with rashes all over his body and difficulty breathing. Despite all efforts from doctors, he was pronounced dead at 4:23 a.m. on Tuesday.
Inquiries into Dr. Abaho’s sudden death are underway. The body has been taken to Gulu Referral Hospital for an autopsy, as requested by his relatives from Ishaka, Bushenyi.
