NEWS: The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is taking a significant step toward digital transformation. Led by Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, a high-level ODPP delegation visited the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) to study its successful digital integration.
Learning from URSB’s Digital Success
“We are here to learn as we look forward to enhanced digital transformation in the ODPP,” stated Lady Justice Abodo during the visit.
URSB has pioneered digital reforms that have improved efficiency, transparency, and service delivery. Registrar General Mercy Kainobwisho highlighted the transformative impact of digitization on URSB’s operations.
“Through digitization, we have reduced service turnaround time while ensuring transparency and data integrity,” she said.
Key Takeaways for ODPP
The delegation explored URSB’s “ALL DIGITAL, ALL ONLINE” strategy. Director of ICT and Innovation, Arthur Kwesiga, outlined critical success factors, including robust infrastructure, leadership commitment, and a clear digital strategy.
By automating workflows and reducing human intervention, URSB has significantly increased efficiency and minimized corruption risks. Deputy Registrar General Alex Anganya reinforced this point:
“We realized that for us to win, it was nothing other than digitization.” He said.
Strengthening ODPP-URSB Collaboration
The visit also reinforced ODPP and URSB’s collaboration in tackling Intellectual Property (IP) crimes through a Memorandum of Understanding.
With ODPP eager to modernize its prosecution systems, this partnership is set to revolutionize service delivery in Uganda’s justice sector.
