SEMBABULE: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, has called upon party leaders and supporters to unite ahead of the upcoming general elections, stressing the importance of solidarity over internal divisions.
Namayanja made the remarks on Sunday while addressing supporters at Rwebitakuri Seed Secondary School in Mawogola West, Sembabule District, during the ‘Buganda for Museveni’ mobilisation rally, where she served as the chief guest.
“Our main target is to defeat and eliminate opposition leaders in Sembabule and other constituencies because they have nothing meaningful to offer the population,” she said.
She emphasized the need to support the NRM across all levels of leadership, noting, “We are going to vote NRM from the president down to the village level. Under President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM has provided strong leadership that has fostered growth and development throughout the country.”
Hon. Hanifa Kawooya Bangirana, Minister of State for Health and Member of Parliament for Mawogola West, echoed Namayanja’s message. She pledged to mobilize support for President Museveni across all districts in Buganda, describing him as an exceptional leader.
“We have achieved a lot under the NRM, and there is still more in the pipeline,” Kawooya said. She also advocated for peaceful party primaries, reminding supporters that “NRM members are one family.”
“They should not allow themselves to be divided by self-seekers. Instead, we must unite and rally behind strong candidates who can reclaim constituencies lost to the opposition,” she added.
Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, praised Sembabule residents for responding positively to the President’s call to embrace commercial agriculture, particularly coffee growing and dairy farming, as a means of improving household welfare.
“We are working to extend affordable electricity to your villages to support the processing of agricultural produce,” she said. Nankabirwa also encouraged locals to take advantage of government programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model to boost their incomes.
