A 40-year-old teacher at Kyoga Secondary School in Kabale District tragically died on the spot in a road accident that left thirteen others seriously injured along the Kabale–Mbarara highway on Holy Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Innocent Agaba, a resident of Kakuga Village, Rutare 1, Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District.
The identities of the injured seven men and six women remain unknown due to their critical condition.
The accident occurred on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at around 2:30 PM in Kabaraga Village, just past the fresh food station on the Kabale–Mbarara road.
It involved a white Toyota Hiace (registration number UBL 327M) driven by an unidentified person who is currently on the run.
According to police reports, the vehicle was en route from Kabale to Mbarara when the driver lost control at Kabaraga, causing the van to overturn multiple times.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed that the scene was visited by ASP Mucunguzi and his team. Agaba’s body was transported to Kabale Hospital mortuary for a postmortem, while the injured victims were admitted to the same hospital in critical condition.
