The Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi, has emphasized that Uganda offers a viable and attractive environment for investment within the East African region.
Speaking at the Uganda-United States Business Forum during an investment breakfast meeting organized by the Ugandan Embassy in Washington D.C. on Monday, April 21, 2025, Minister Musasizi reiterated that Uganda boasts a stable political environment and is regarded as an island of peace and stability.
He highlighted the country’s tradition of holding regular, free, and fair elections every five years.
He further noted that Uganda is culturally diverse, with a happy and tolerant society, and a population of 45 million people.
“When you invest in Uganda, you are guaranteed access to a market of one billion people,” Minister Musasizi remarked, referring to the broader regional market.
He also revealed that the Government of Uganda offers guarantees and specific protections to investors, further ensuring a secure investment environment.
Uganda’s economy, he noted, is liberal, driven by free-market principles, and is a member of the East African Community, which comprises eight countries.
Minister Musasizi concluded by reaffirming that the Government of Uganda is open for business and committed to supporting private sector growth.
The Uganda-United States Investment Breakfast Meeting aimed to present an overview of Uganda’s economic landscape, investment climate and key opportunities, with the goal of attracting and increasing U.S. private sector investment in the country.
