Uganda has officially taken on the co-chairmanship of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action during the ongoing 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., United States.

Uganda will co-chair the coalition alongside the Netherlands. The Minister of State for General Duties, Henry Musasizi, received the co-chairmanship on behalf of the Government of Uganda from the outgoing co-chair, H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Finance Minister of Indonesia.

“We deeply appreciate the trust placed in us, and we are committed to advancing our shared climate and economic goals,” said Minister Musasizi.

He emphasized that Uganda’s key focus during its tenure will be climate adaptation.

“We believe adaptation efforts are not only essential for building resilience, but also crucial for unlocking economic opportunities,” he noted.
