A 22-year-old boda boda rider has died following a tragic accident in Abuka village, Palabek Gem sub-county, Lamwo district.
The deceased, identified as Rwotomia Innocent, was riding alone on a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UFS 732 when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the incident happened at around 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as he was traveling from Gem to Abuka village. It is alleged that he hit a pothole and died instantly at the scene.
Aswa East Regional Community Liaison Officer and regional spokesperson, Inspector of Police (IP) Joe Oloya, confirmed the incident, attributing the cause of death to reckless riding.
He added that an investigation is currently underway.
Rwotomia’s body has been taken to Padibe Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle involved in the accident is being held at Palabek Gem Police Station, pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
