Authorities at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital are holding the body of an unidentified man that was retrieved by police after being found floating in a river at Mushenyi “A” Village, Bigaga Parish, Butanda Sub-county in Kabale District.

The body was discovered on Tuesday by local residents, who immediately informed area chairman Baburata Edison. The incident was reported to Butanda Police Post, where a case file for suspected murder was opened.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed the incident, stating that a homicide team led by Acting District CID Officer D/IP Barijunaki Samuel visited and documented the crime scene.

“Upon receiving this heartbreaking news, we opened a case file for suspected murder. Our homicide team promptly visited the scene, documented it, and retrieved the body. It was then taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for examination, and we recorded statements from the first responders,” Maate said.
