Jacqueline Katabazi has officially been nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for Woman Member of Parliament for Rubanda District in the 2026–2031 elections.

The nomination took place on Tuesday at the NRM Secretariat in Kyadondo, Kampala, where Katabazi received her official nomination certificate and addressed journalists.

“I am deeply honored to have been nominated to contest for Woman MP of Rubanda District in the NRM Primaries,” she said. “My interest lies in servant leadership, giving Rubanda a voice that is not only heard but respected and responded to at the national level.”

Katabazi outlined her campaign agenda, centered on five key pillars: education, health, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and unity.

“Rubanda needs more than promises. We need action,” she asserted.

She also decried the poor state of healthcare in the district, noting that many mothers and patients in remote areas are underserved.

“Our health centers are struggling. I will push for increased funding, consistent drug supply, and better staffing, especially in rural areas,” she promised.

Addressing the district’s challenging terrain, Katabazi emphasized the importance of road infrastructure.

“Good roads are not a luxury, they are a lifeline,” she said. “I will work with relevant ministries to upgrade key roads, especially those linking to health centers, schools, and markets.”

The aspiring legislator also vowed to support youth and women through skills training and business development programs.

“We have hardworking, talented youth and women who need opportunities. I will champion initiatives that bring real income into households,” she said.

Promising to be a unifying figure, Katabazi pledged inclusive leadership across political and religious lines.

“Rubanda deserves a leader who unites people. I don’t believe in politics that divides, I believe in politics that delivers.”

Describing herself as “a true servant of Rubanda,” she committed to focused, accountable, and accessible leadership.

“Rubanda is rich in culture, people, and potential. What we’ve lacked is leadership that listens and acts. That is what I am bringing to the table,” she concluded.

Her nomination sets the stage for a competitive race in Rubanda District as the 2026 general elections approach.
