Residents of Mwendo Parish in Kitumba Sub-county, Ndorwa West County, have expressed frustration over what they describe as unfulfilled promises by their area Member of Parliament, David Kwesiga Bahati.

The residents accuse the Bahati, who also serves as State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry), of failing to deliver on key development pledges made during the 2021 general elections.

The concerns were raised during consultative meetings held in Mugabe Village, St. Luke Karujabura Church of Uganda, and Kiyoora Church of Uganda in Mwendo Parish. The meetings were organized by Counsel Eliab Naturinda Mporera, an NRM aspirant for the Ndorwa West County parliamentary seat.

Local leaders, including village chairpersons, openly criticized Minister Bahati for allegedly neglecting vital infrastructure and utility services in the area.

Augustine Muhangi, Vice Chairperson of Mugabi Cell, highlighted the deplorable condition of the 6-kilometre Nyakabungo–Mugabe–Hamuganda road, which Bahati had pledged to rehabilitate during his 2021 campaign.

Muhangi noted that the road, linking Nyakabungo Village in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality to Hamuganda in Mwendo Parish, remains impassable due to potholes and overgrown vegetation.

Anacklet Biryomumisho, the LC1 Chairperson of Karujabura Village, decried the poor state of the Kanyabihama – Kabisha  road, which he claims has been completely neglected by the area Member of Parliament Bahati.

Other local leaders, including Pascal Tumusiime (Chairperson, Mugabe Village), Biryomumisho, and Pius Tumwesigye (NRM flag bearer for Mugabe Village LCI), also criticized Minister Bahati for failing to extend electricity to the area, a commitment they say he made ahead of the 2021 elections.
