Several Christians at Kagarama Church of Uganda in Hamuhambo Town Council, Rubanda District, have reportedly been stripped of their church responsibilities over their continued support for Minister of Finance (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi, who is seeking re-election as Member of Parliament for Rubanda East Constituency.

According to reliable sources, the affected Christians have been barred from participating in key church activities, including preaching, singing in the choir and serving as godparents during baptism ceremonies.

It has also been alleged that parents whose children are beneficiaries of the Compassion International program have been warned they could lose the scholarships if they continue supporting Minister Musasizi.

Sources further revealed that home cell leaders have been directed to conduct house-to-house mobilization every Wednesday in favor of Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, the former Rubanda District LC5 Chairman and Hon. Prossy Mbabazi Akampurira Begumisa, the incumbent District Woman MP, who is also seeking re-election.

Muhwezi revealed that the church priest, Rev. Robert Magezi, initially encouraged them to approach Minister Musasizi for support towards church construction. However, she claims that after engaging the Minister, Rev. Magezi allegedly colluded with certain church leaders to ostracize them.

“We were loyal members, even willing to help develop the church. But after doing what we were told, the same people turned against us. Now, we just attend church services like ordinary Christians,” Muhwezi stated.
