Youth Member of Parliament aspirant for Eastern Uganda, Hon. Emmanuel Ebele Apwatum, has called on the youth of Teso and the wider Eastern Uganda region to vote for vibrant and ideologically driven leaders in the upcoming elections scheduled for August 23, 2025.
Apwatum made the remarks during a meeting with delegates from Soroti City held at Strikers Hotel on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
He emphasized that electing visionary leaders would enable citizens to fully benefit from government programs.
“I am ready to champion the liberation of oppressed youth and to lobby for industrial hubs, skilling centres, and other development initiatives,” Apwatum stated.
Samuel Ome, the Youth League Chairperson for Soroti City West, commended Apwatum’s leadership ambitions and urged the youth of Teso to support leaders who are development-focused and rooted in community values.
Mercy Apimo, a delegate at the meeting, expressed her full support for Apwatum’s candidacy.
Meanwhile, Calvin Moses Emwodu, the Youth Chairperson for Soroti City East, praised Apwatum’s initiatives, particularly his focus on business support and mindset change among the youth in Teso and Eastern Uganda.
“We need leaders who are not self-centred, but who prioritize development—especially through job creation,” he said.
Zainab Nancha, the Eastern Division flag bearer and delegate from Soroti, also rallied fellow delegates to support Apwatum, citing his dynamic and transformative manifesto.
Gideon Egipu, Chairperson for Soroti City West, encouraged youth leaders in the Teso sub-region to embrace change in the upcoming elections.
“We cannot afford to waste another five years under self-serving leaders. We need someone like Apwatum who can shift the youth’s mindset toward progress,” Egipu remarked.
In his closing remarks, Apwatum urged young people to shun divisive politics and vote-buying practices, emphasizing unity and mindset transformation as key to regional development.
Originally from Katakwi District, Apwatum has launched his campaign on a platform of youth development, educational empowerment, and mindset change.
