Kabale District Local Government has donated 900 gauge-28 iron sheets to 14 government-aided primary schools to support ongoing classroom construction and improve learning environments for pupils.

According to Acting District Education Officer Moses Bwengye Tumwijukye, the materials were procured through the School Maintenance Grant.

The beneficiaries are schools whose parents had already mobilized resources to build classroom blocks up to roofing level.

“This initiative is meant to motivate and recognize the contributions of parents towards education,” Tumwijukye said, adding that the district prioritizes support for schools with completed permanent timber frameworks.

The handover ceremony was held at Sullivan Square, Kabale District Headquarters.

“These iron sheets must provide safe and conducive classrooms for learners. Any misuse will not be tolerated,” he warned.

Mutegeki also commended the district’s policy of complementing community efforts, noting that many schools across the country remain incomplete due to lack of roofing materials.

Assistant Resident District Commissioner Martin Niwataho, who presided over the handover, applauded the district leadership for prioritizing education infrastructure and called for a renewed focus on service delivery.

“With elections behind us, we must concentrate on improving public services, especially education,” he said.
