The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Returning Officer for Kisoro District, Tadeo Mujambere, has cautioned the district’s Vice Chairperson, Alex Nambajimana, against misleading the public by claiming to be the elected NRM flag bearer for the Kisoro Municipality mayoral seat.
Mujambere issued the warning during a press briefing held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at his office on Kivengeri Road in Kisoro Municipality.
He clarified that the Kisoro Municipality mayoral race remains under review following allegations of voting irregularities, particularly concerning the number of registered voters. One of the candidates, Ndukiyezre, has since petitioned the NRM national tribunal to investigate the matter.
“As per the NRM party constitution, I was only mandated to announce preliminary results,” Mujambere explained.

Mujambere stressed that Nambajimana is not yet the official winner and emphasized that the party is currently holding the flag in reserve.
“I am hearing that Alex Nambajimana is saying he is the official NRM flag bearer for Kisoro Municipality Mayor. But he is not. We are just keeping the flag safely for now. If he wins the case concerning irregularities, then he will officially become the flag bearer,” Mujambere stated.
