The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially launched preparations for its 2025 Delegates’ Conference, setting in motion a massive one-week political marathon expected to draw over 25,000 leaders from sub-county to national level at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
In an inaugural meeting held on August 12, the NRM Secretariat, officials from the Office of the National Chairman, security agencies, and more than 250 members of the conference’s steering committees convened to assess progress and map strategies for a smooth and impactful event.
The meeting, chaired by NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, focused on ensuring tight planning, unity, and flawless coordination.
“We have inaugurated the organizing committee for the Delegates’ Conference. The committees are set, their work starts immediately, and by the 20th of this month we begin receiving and accrediting delegates,” Todwong announced.
He clarified that this year’s venue will shift from the traditional Mandela National Stadium to Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, as the stadium will host CHAN games. Accreditation will take place at Nakawa ICT Center before delegates proceed to Kololo.
Todwong also issued a stern call for discipline, stressing that only elected and accredited delegates will be admitted. Lists will be sent to districts in advance.
The conference oversight committee will be chaired by the party’s First National Vice Chairman, Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, while operations will be led by Todwong himself, supported by subcommittee members holding daily planning sessions until the event.
“Our expectation is to perform better than before. The organizing committee must be more committed, more efficient, and deliver a conference that satisfies delegates at all levels,” Todwong emphasized.
NRM Director of Communication and conference spokesperson Hon. Emmanuel Dombo underscored that all preparations are being executed on behalf of the party’s National Chairman and President of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
