The Minister of Finance (General Duties) Henry Musasizi has attributed his continued political victories to hard work and constant engagement with his constituents in Rubanda District.

Speaking on Sunday during a thanksgiving Mass for Rev. Fr. Onesmus Ahabwe at Kitogota Cell, Kagarama Ward, Hamuhambo Town Council in Rubanda District, Minister Musasizi, who also serves as Rubanda East Member of Parliament, said he has remained in “permanent campaign mode” since he first joined Parliament.

“I defeat my political enemies because I never sleep on the job,” Musasizi told the gathering. “For the last 30 years, I have worked with my colleagues, and when we joined elections in Rubanda District, our goal was to change the status quo and uplift service delivery. Everything we do is carefully planned and programmed, which is why we keep winning.”

Minister Musasizi pointed to what he described as visible development projects across the constituency, saying, “Look around, beginning from this parish. There is no place where we have not done something developmental.”

Minister Musasizi also commented on his recent double victory after the NRM Electoral Tribunal upheld him as the duly elected Rubanda East NRM flag bearer.

“I always said that someone I defeated in an election of the entire constituency could not defeat me in a smaller circle. Every time he contests, he claims he has been cheated, people should ask him why,” he remarked in reference to his rival, Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema.

Minister Musasizi, also confirmed that the National Executive Council (NEC) has endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the sole presidential candidate for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the 2026 general elections.

“Last night, we sat in the NEC at State House and backed the earlier CEC resolution to have President Museveni as our flag bearer in the 2026 presidential election. I am therefore asking you all to be Museveni’s agents in your respective areas.” He said.

He added that the CEC and NEC resolutions will now be forwarded to the upcoming Delegates Conference scheduled for Wednesday, where delegates are expected to give the final approval.

Musasizi’s rally comes amid efforts by the NRM to consolidate support for President Museveni ahead of next year’s elections, signaling the party’s intent to present a united front.

Rubanda District LC5 Chairman, Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, who also attended the event, praised Minister Musasizi’s consistency in staying connected with the electorate.

“We were in the NRM National Executive Council at State House last night and returned here at 6 am. But we are still with you because we know how important it is to remain close to our people,” Kasyaba said.

The thanksgiving Mass also marked the first clerical duties of Rev. Fr. Ahabwe, who was ordained on Saturday by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese.

During the celebration, Fr. Ahabwe baptized 34 children into the Catholic faith at his home in Kitogota.
